Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held an emergency meeting with intelligence and Justice Ministry chiefs following a warning from his ally, Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), about a potential coup attempt being prepared within law enforcement ranks.

It is noted that the country has been stirred by the dismissal of several police officers from the Ankara Security Directorate.

According to the agency, these officers are accused of having ties to the criminal organization "Ayhan Bora Kaplan." Searches were conducted in their homes.

Earlier it was reported that Erdogan's visit to the US was postponed due to a mismatch between his schedule and that of US leader Joe Biden.
