Families with children with disabilities will have their surgery and treatment expenses covered
Uzbekistan
On January 28, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals to improve the social assistance system and implement modern mechanisms for supporting people with disabilities.
At the meeting, it was noted that assistance provided through the "Women's Registry" and the "Youth Registry" will now be based on the "Registry of Low-Income Families." This registry allows for a detailed study of families' social conditions and simplifies the process of receiving assistance. The new system eliminates the need for additional documents and applications, offering added convenience to citizens.
Under the President’s initiative, the types of social assistance will be optimized. As a result, a unified list of 28 types of social support will be approved, and expenses for treatment and surgeries will be covered through the State Health Insurance Fund.
President Mirziyoyev also proposed establishing daytime care centers for children with disabilities based on public-private partnerships. These centers will ensure quality care for children with disabilities and provide their mothers with opportunities to work or pursue education. By the end of 2025, it is planned to include about 2,000 children in these services.
Additionally, the "Children's Health" information system will be launched to enable continuous monitoring of children's health. Each child will receive medical, rehabilitation, and social services as part of an integrated system.
Reducing poverty has been identified as one of the state's top priorities. Through the "Registry of Low-Income Families," families' income levels and social conditions are being thoroughly analyzed. This system has already helped thousands of citizens find employment, receive vocational training, and access loans and subsidies.
