At the World Championships in England, Uzbekistan’s national boxing team won its first gold medal. In the −75 kg final, Fazliddin Erkinboev defeated Bulgaria’s Kivan Rami with a dominant 5:0 victory to claim the world champion title.
This is the team’s first gold at the tournament. In addition, three more Uzbek boxers advanced to the finals. Asadkhudja Muydinkhojayev (−65 kg) reached the final after his Georgian opponent did not enter the ring. Javohir Ummataliyev (−80 kg) outclassed Croatia’s Gabriel Veocic 5:0, while Akmaljon Isroilov (−85 kg) defeated Austria’s Michael Fares with the same score.
The women’s team also secured medals: Sabina Bobokulova (−48 kg), Feruza Kazakova (−51 kg), and Aziza Zokirova (−70 kg) all earned bronze.
