It is no coincidence that our country places special emphasis on the development of the automotive industry. This year, 20 banks were involved in financing car purchases, resulting in 95 percent of cars being sold on installment plans and through affordable lending. At the same time, the production of automobiles and components targeting neighboring markets is developing. New cooperation chains are forming around the industry, and over 10,000 young specialists are working using modern technologies. Over 300 companies supply components to Chevrolet, and approximately 40 companies supply components to KIA and BYD. The presentation discussed the achievement of the goal of achieving a million-strong automotive industry in terms of both production volume and employment. The large number of project proposals for the production and assembly of passenger cars and commercial vehicles indicates that a favorable investment climate and a highly liquid market are developing in Uzbekistan. At the same time, it was emphasized that each project should be assessed based on market demand and cost effectiveness, with the primary focus on ensuring competitiveness in foreign markets. The presentation presented information about the Volkswagen automobile production project. According to the plan, the first stage involves launching a semi-knocked-down assembly line in Tashkent. The next stage is planned to establish a full production cycle in the Angren Free Economic Zone, increase localization, and expand into foreign markets. It was noted that the current global situation is significantly impacting the automotive industry. In this regard, the need to ensure technological independence, implement innovation, and begin developing a competitive national product less dependent on export and logistical restrictions was emphasized. It was noted that modern engineering schools have been opened in Andijan and Jizzakh, a new generation of young researchers and engineers is being trained, and overall, the necessary intellectual potential for a domestic brand exists. To this end, a decision was made to develop research and development activities within the Uzavtosanoat JSC system. The automotive components market was also noted as another major opportunity in the industry. In this regard, the need to streamline the components market, increase the share of local production, improve the certification system, and establish modern testing laboratories was emphasized. The task was set to develop a strategy for the development of the automotive spare parts market by the end of 2026, with the involvement of international consulting companies.
