There is increasing talk in the West about negotiations. Earlier on the same day, Polish General Waldemar Skrzypczak stated that Western countries need to end the conflict with Russia as soon as possible to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine.
On May 15, Czech President Petr Pavel also emphasized the need to stop the conflict, after which negotiations about the future structure of the country should begin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly indicated Moscow's readiness for negotiations. Two days ago, at a meeting with commanders of the military districts, he noted that Russia has always sought and will continue to aim to resolve the Ukrainian crisis through diplomatic means.
The last round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place on March 29, 2022, in Istanbul, Türkiye. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kyiv officially refused further contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, Zelensky implemented the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine regarding the impossibility of holding negotiations with Putin.
