Fruit First: Uzbekistan Sets Sights on Export Growth
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference dedicated to increasing the export of fruits, vegetables, and food products in Uzbekistan.

He highlighted that over the past three years, 250,000 hectares of land previously used for cotton and grain have been converted for food production. Additionally, 160,000 hectares of new orchards and vineyards were planted, and 107,000 hectares of old orchards were renewed.

More than 1,500 food industry projects worth $1 billion have been launched, creating infrastructure for storing (100,000 tons), drying (70,000 tons), and sorting/packaging (46,000 tons) agricultural produce.

The President emphasized that Uzbekistan’s agricultural reforms have gained international recognition. This month, Uzbekistan was elected to the Council of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

— This opens major opportunities for promoting national and regional initiatives and attracting funding for new projects, — said President Mirziyoyev.
