G7 Approves Unprecedented Plan of Pressure on Russia

Following the summit in the French city of Évian-les-Bains, the leaders of the G7 nations have made a strategic decision to significantly intensify economic pressure on Moscow while simultaneously scaling up military and technical support for Kyiv. The final statement of the heads of state emphasizes a consolidated and unwavering solidarity with the people of Ukraine, noting the new dynamics and achievements of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield in recent months. The assistance program will be synchronized with the country's needs amidst ongoing strikes against critical infrastructure.
Within the economic bloc of the agreements, the G7 countries committed to introducing harsh new restrictions against the Russian oil and gas sector, aimed at weakening Russia's war economy and reinforcing the current sanctions regime. In terms of defense support, the allies agreed on an emergency expansion of supplies of air defense systems, interceptors, long-range weaponry, and other types of arms. Furthermore, an innovative step is being considered to grant Ukraine special licenses that would allow for the localized production of essential military hardware directly on Ukrainian territory.
