German Finance Minister: Germany is getting poorer

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said at a Bloomberg event in Frankfurt that the country is getting poorer due to a lack of economic growth.
"We are no longer competitive. We are getting poorer because we have no growth. We are falling behind," the agency quoted him as saying.
According to the minister, his remarks indicate the difficult situation of the German economy, especially in the second year after the pandemic, when economic growth forecasts remain weak. "It is inconceivable to me that the government does not draw any conclusions from this analysis," Lindner emphasised. According to Bloomberg news agency, the minister's statement came shortly after an OECD forecast that suggests Germany's economy will grow by just 0.3 per cent this year.
