Hungary calls for an early ceasefire in Ukraine

Hungary insists on the earliest possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

Szijjártó emphasised that Hungary regularly speaks about an early transition to peace talks on Ukraine. He noted that continued Western military aid is tasked with preventing a Russian victory.
"You know, our position is really clear when it comes to the war in our neighborhood. We do believe that Russia cannot be defeated in this war," the Hungarian foreign minister said.
The diplomat stressed that the start of peace talks and a cease-fire would avoid more casualties and destruction. He added that this would reduce the need for Ukraine's reconstruction.
