Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will meet on October 5 at the European Political Community summit in Granada, Spain. The Security Council of Armenia reported this on its Facebook page.

“We are preparing for a meeting of leaders with [Aliyev aide Hikmet] Hajiyev, which will take place on October 5 in Granada,” the Security Council statement said.

Representatives of the heads of state will meet in Brussels on September 26 to discuss the agenda for the negotiations. It is planned to hold a five-party meeting with the participation of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the head of the Council of Europe Charles Michel.

Pashinyan said that there is a possibility that peace will be established between the two countries by the end of 2023.

On September 23, Aliyev said that the two countries have “more favorable opportunities” to conclude a peace treaty. According to him, the Azerbaijani government has created a working group to solve social, humanitarian, economic and infrastructural problems in Nagorno-Karabakh. He also informed the EU about reintegration negotiations with regional authorities.
