Iran starts construction of new nuclear reactor
Iran has started construction of a new 10 MW nuclear research reactor in Isfahan province in the central part of the country. This was reported by the Tasnim news agency.

According to its information, it will be a pool-type reactor, light water will be used as a moderator, and the nuclear fuel will be uranium and aluminium oxides. The plant will be a source of a powerful stream of neutrons with high density.

The neutrons will reportedly be further utilised to produce isotopes widely used in the industrial and pharmaceutical fields.

The reactor's production capacity will not only meet all the country's domestic needs, but may also provide Iran with opportunities for further exports of products and services in this field regionally and globally, the agency noted.
