It has become known when the Russian presidential election will be held

The election is scheduled for 17 March 2024. Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova noted that on 8 December the CEC will consider a draft resolution on voting in the Russian presidential election on 15, 16 and 17 March.
At the plenary session of the upper house of the Federal Assembly it was decided to set the presidential election for 17 March 2024, which will come into effect from the moment of its official announcement.
The decision was adopted unanimously, 162 senators voted in favour of it.
Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Andrey Klishas, told TASS that the entry into force of the Federation Council's decision actually launches the election campaign. In addition, the senator specified that the Russian Central Election Commission may make a decision on multi-day voting no later than 10 days from the day of the announcement of the decision on the appointment of elections. Such a decision is not subject to review.
According to the electoral legislation, the Federation Council decides on the date of elections. The upper house of parliament sets the date of voting not earlier than 100 days and not later than 90 days before election day.
