Kyiv bans Lukashenko from entering Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelensky enacted a decision of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council dated February 18, 2026, introducing personal sanctions against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the official document, the measures include a ban on Lukashenko entering Ukrainian territory. No additional restrictions were specified.

Officials in Minsk criticized the move. Oleg Gaidukevich, deputy chairman of the international affairs committee of the lower house of the Belarusian parliament, said the sanctions could be an attempt to derail peace negotiations taking place in Geneva.

Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that Kyiv was considering opening a criminal case against Lukashenko. According to those reports, Zelensky discussed the issue with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya during a visit to Vilnius.

Lukashenko’s press secretary, Natalia Eismont, said Minsk did not attach much importance to the Ukrainian media reports.

The Belarusian president has previously stated he is ready to assist in a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
