Kyrgyzstan plans to repay its debts by 2035. This was stated by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov in an interview with the Kabar news agency.

"Previously obtained loans were not used for self-sustaining projects. The money went as if into the sand. The last loans taken for the North-South alternative road, Datka-Kemin, CHPP were correct. We needed these projects, but they cost us twice as much. There was very poor control and embezzlement," Japarov said.

According to Sadyr Japarov, now the deadline for repayment of these debts has come and the state has started paying them.

"By 2035, we will have repaid the debts previously incurred. We can collect all our reserves and pay. Our state has enough strength for this," the President noted.

It is reported that Kyrgyzstan currently operates on the principle of "measure seven times, cut once".

According to him, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway makes one think about the high cost and payback period of 35-40 years. At the same time, the project will allow Kyrgyzstan to become a transit country from a dead-end state.

"The road will serve the Kyrgyz people and the state for a lifetime. We are looking at realising this project in a different way, not through external borrowing. God willing, we will resolve this issue and start construction soon. Kyrgyz people should not worry about debts taken for other projects. Each current project is a project that will pay for itself without affecting the state budget," Japarov emphasised.
