The famous Portuguese footballer and England's Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, died in a car accident in Spain, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca. He was 28 years old.

The tragedy occurred in the Samora province. A car carrying Jota and his younger brother Andre (26 years old) derailed and caught fire. Both brothers died on the spot.

André Jota played for the Portuguese club "Penafiel." Diogo Jota, a star of the Portugal national team, has previously played for Atletico Madrid, Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and has been playing for Liverpool since 2020. As part of the English club, he won the Premier League championship in the 2024/2025 season and the FA Cup in 2022.

Jota also participated in the 2020 and 2024 European Championships as an important part of the Portugal national team.

The world football community is already expressing its condolences. Official statements from FIFA, UEFA, and the clubs linked to the player are expected in the coming days.
