According to a statement from the Élysée Palace, Macron called on Putin to cease fire on Ukrainian territory and begin negotiations to end the conflict. Paris reaffirmed its unconditional support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In turn, Vladimir Putin said that the military actions in Ukraine are "the direct consequence of Western policy and ignoring Russia's legitimate security interests."

According to the Kremlin, the Russian leader emphasized:

"Any peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv must be comprehensive, long-term, and take into account the new territorial reality."
