During his visit to the Samarkand region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended a ceremony to mark the launch of major projects in the region and the start of construction of new ones.

The event included an exhibition of products from the region's food, light industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, construction, metalworking, and furniture industries. The head of state was introduced to the region's modern production facilities, advanced equipment and technologies, and industrial products.

The Samarkand region is steadily developing as a strategically important region in our country's economy. In recent years, its industrial output has consistently increased, and a favorable business and investment environment has created a solid foundation for attracting domestic and foreign investment. The annual increase in the number of enterprises with foreign capital clearly demonstrates the positive dynamics in this sector.

At the ceremony, it was announced that 106 new projects, worth nearly $7 billion, are ready to launch and begin construction in cities and districts. The event was attended by the heads of new projects under construction and soon-to-be commissioned projects.

These projects span various sectors of the regional economy. Specifically, new capacities are planned to be commissioned and construction of promising facilities to begin in the mining and geological industries, construction materials production, automotive, chemical, electrical, and agricultural sectors, as well as in education, healthcare, services, and tourism.

At the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke with project implementers and representatives of local and international companies, listening to their proposals and initiatives. It was noted that such projects will be an important factor in further strengthening the industrial potential of the Samarkand region, modernizing manufacturing sectors, and ensuring sustainable economic growth in the region.

By pressing a symbolic button, the head of state launched the commissioning of major projects and the construction of new ones in the Samarkand region.

In particular, 53 projects worth $2.4 billion have been launched in cooperation with Austria, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, and Russia.

In addition, construction has begun on 53 projects worth $4.6 billion in partnership with the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, China, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Russia, and Iran.

The implementation of these projects will create 18,000 new jobs, ensure industrial production worth 13 trillion soums, and generate export potential of $700 million. This will contribute to the diversification of regional industry, the development of modern production chains, and the further expansion of export geography.

At the event, the President was presented with a presentation on the work accomplished and future plans to improve water resource efficiency in the Narpay District, as well as the transfer of management of pumping stations through a public-private partnership.

In the Narpay District, eight pumping stations have been transferred to the private sector through a public-private partnership. Over the past period, 21 pumping units have been upgraded through investments totaling 12.3 billion soums, reducing annual electricity consumption from 68.1 million kilowatt-hours to 34.1 million kilowatt-hours.

Overall, new scientific approaches are being introduced into the water management system of the Samarkand Region. To this end, a scientific adviser has been assigned to the regional khokim to ensure synergy between science and practice. Furthermore, dual education is being established in the sector: 72 students will receive six months of continuous internships in water management, agricultural mechanization, hydraulic engineering and hydropower, cadastral surveys, and ecology.

The head of state has instructed responsible officials to consistently and systematically continue this work.
