Muhsinhuja Abdurakhmonov Appointed New Director of Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency

Muhsinhuja Tursunhujaevich Abdurakhmonov has been appointed Director of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The appointment was formalized by a resolution signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Before taking the new post, Abdurakhmonov headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Japan and had served as the country’s ambassador to Japan since July 2021. He is 52 years old.
Abdurakhmonov graduated from Tashkent Economic University in 1996. In 1994–1995, he completed an internship at California State University, Chico, in the United States, and studied at the Academy of State and Public Construction under the President in 1996–1998.
From 1998 to 2001, he pursued a master’s degree at Otaru University of Commerce in Japan, followed by doctoral studies at Hokkaido University from 2001 to 2004. He worked as a research fellow at the same university in 2006–2008.
His professional career includes positions in the private sector and public administration. From 2004 to 2006, Abdurakhmonov worked as a manager at Coca-Cola Uzbekistan LLC, and from 2008 to 2017 he served as CEO of MTRUST in Japan. In 2018–2021, he was Deputy Governor of Fergana Region and Head of its Investment and Foreign Trade Department. He later briefly headed the Investment Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Under a separate resolution, Behzod Anvarovich Musaev was relieved of his position as Director of the Migration Agency due to his transfer to another job. He had headed the agency since September 2024.
Musaev previously held several senior government positions, including Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction and Minister of Health. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister for Social Development, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber and Chairman of the State Tax Committee.
The Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers is responsible for external labor migration, assisting citizens with employment abroad, and protecting the rights and interests of migrant workers.
