Nearly 100 Young Eco-Activists and Experts Gather at RCOY Central Asia 2026

A regional youth conference on water and climate, “RCOY Central Asia 2026,” is taking place in Central Asia. Nearly 100 young environmental activists and experts from the region, as well as Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Türkiye, are taking part.

At the opening ceremony, Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, said that climate change and water security are shared and pressing issues for Central Asia. She emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among regional countries, supporting youth initiatives and expanding young people’s participation in decision-making to address these challenges effectively.

Participants include representatives from Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as Azerbaijan, Mongolia and Türkiye.

The conference program features expert sessions and open discussions on climate policy and public administration, the rational use of water resources, glacier melting and desertification. Practical workshops, meetings with government representatives and cultural exchange programs are also planned.

The conference will conclude with a consolidation of youth proposals and initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and supporting sustainable development in Central Asia.
