New automobile tunnel opens on “New Uzbekistan” Street in Tashkent
Uzbekistan
On August 29, a new automobile tunnel was inaugurated on “New Uzbekistan” Street in Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the site to inspect the facility.
The development of road infrastructure is crucial for the capital, where the population is growing and the city boundaries continue to expand. In recent years, “New Uzbekistan” Street has seen the construction of a park, residential complexes, a university, and an Olympic town. In the future, this road will become one of the main highways leading to the new city of New Tashkent.
The tunnel is 468 meters long and 25 meters wide, with a capacity of more than 10,000 vehicles per hour. A green zone was created above it, providing safe pedestrian access between the “New Uzbekistan” Park and the Olympic town.
In addition, a tunnel and station for the future metro line have been built in this direction.
Environmental aspects were also taken into account: the new tunnel will reduce travel time by half, save about 1 ton of fuel per day, and cut harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 2 tons.
The President emphasized that the facility meets modern standards and stressed that such projects enhance the comfort of residents and contribute to the development of tourism in the capital.
