New Dispute Between HAMAS and Israel: Peace Agreement Delayed

The process of finalizing an agreement between Israel and HAMAS on the release of hostages has encountered new disputes, delaying the peace negotiations. The Israeli government accuses HAMAS of violating agreed-upon terms, while HAMAS representatives deny these allegations, asserting their commitment to the truce. This was reported by local and international media, including Al Jazeera and The Times of Israel.

New Dispute Between HAMAS and Israel: Peace Agreement Delayed
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu identified disagreements over the release of Palestinian prisoners as the main cause of the conflict. According to him, HAMAS is demanding to select the individuals to be released independently. This demand contradicts the previously agreed-upon condition that releases should occur "based on lists agreed upon by both sides."

This demand by HAMAS is perceived by Israel as a violation of prior agreements, leading to a halt in negotiations.

To achieve an agreement, mediators, including the Prime Minister of Qatar, U.S. President Joe Biden, and President-elect Donald Trump, continue their efforts. Last night, they announced that the agreement had been successfully concluded. However, Netanyahu emphasized that the deal is not yet finalized and that significant details still need to be resolved.

Currently, the Israeli government is awaiting HAMAS's full acceptance of all conditions. The government stated that a cabinet meeting will only be convened after mediators confirm HAMAS's readiness to comply with all elements of the agreement.

In his address, Netanyahu stated: "Negotiations to achieve peace will continue, but no terms that contradict Israel's security and interests will be accepted."
