Outcomes of the Uzbekistan-Mongolia Business Forum
Business
The recent business forum in the capital has laid the groundwork for ambitious projects ranging from cashmere processing to livestock expansion. With surging trade figures and the launch of new logistics routes, the partnership between the two nations promises to be a key driver of economic revitalization across Central and East Asia.
Tashkent hosted a large-scale Uzbekistan-Mongolia Business Forum featuring over 70 companies. Against the backdrop of a 15.6% increase in Uzbek exports, the parties aim to elevate bilateral trade to $100 million. A primary focus is industrial cooperation: Uzbekistan will begin processing Mongolian wool and cashmere for subsequent re-export.
In the agricultural sector, the plan is to increase the population of Mongolian sheep in Uzbekistan to 1 million heads by 2029, while Mongolia will implement Uzbek irrigation systems. A significant milestone will be the launch of freight transport along the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan–China–Mongolia corridor. Furthermore, Tashkent has commenced operations to develop mineral deposits in Mongolia. The B2B and G2B sessions concluded with the establishment of a permanent mechanism to facilitate and support joint investment projects.
