Putin refuses to participate in debates

Presidential candidate Vladimir Putin has refused to participate in joint campaign events on the channels of all-Russian state TV and radio broadcasting organisations.
This became known back on 29 January, when Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin would not take part in the pre-election debates.
Four candidates will take part in the Russian presidential election in March 2024: Vladimir Putin, Nikolai Kharitonov from the CPRF, Leonid Slutsky from the LDPR and Vyacheslav Davankov from the New People party. It is noted that a successful performance in these elections may influence the 2026 political campaign.
