The United Arab Emirates and Qatar have decided to reopen the diplomatic departments of the two countries. The press service of the UAE Foreign Ministry reported that since June 19, the emirate is reopening its embassy in Doha, and Qatar-embassies in Abu Dhabi and consulates in Dubai.
"This decision was made on the basis of an agreement reached at the summit of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf in Al-Ula in 2021," the statement said.
On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Doha and announced sanctions against Qatar, accusing it of "supporting terrorist groups." Qatar has strongly denied the allegations.
