Qatari, US, and Egyptian negotiators are managing a communications hub in Cairo to safeguard the ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, Donald Trump expressed doubts about the durability of the peace agreement.

Reports of ceasefire violations have already been received. Medical professionals in Gaza reported that on Monday, eight individuals were hospitalized due to Israeli gunfire.

Trump’s envoy, who actively contributed to negotiations to halt the war, claims responsibility for achieving the agreement. However, when asked on Monday if the ceasefire would hold, Trump told journalists, “This is not our war. It’s their war.”

“If not for Trump, this agreement wouldn’t exist today. Therefore, we are hopeful for the support of this administration,” said Majed al-Ansari, an adviser to Qatar’s prime minister and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first phase of the ceasefire is expected to last six weeks. More complex negotiations for the second phase are anticipated to begin in early January.

Due to minimal trust between the parties, a 24/7 communications hub was established to prevent the ceasefire from breaking down over accusations of violations and other potential issues.

“We received calls about possible violations, resolved them immediately, and the ceasefire remained intact,” said al-Ansari. He declined to comment on specific reports of violations, citing the sensitivity of the agreement.

As part of the agreement, humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza have already started. Since Sunday, over 900 aid trucks and 12,500 liters of fuel supplied by Qatar have crossed the border. Al-Ansari expressed hope for an increase in these numbers.

The shipments are aimed at meeting the basic needs of a region devastated by 15 months of war, where people are starving, and the medical system is in ruins. Reconstruction is expected to begin in the subsequent phases of the agreement.

Trump’s transition team informed US journalists that during reconstruction, the relocation of 2 million Palestinians is being discussed, with Indonesia considered as a potential destination.

Qatar has drawn a clear “red line” in response. Al-Ansari emphasized: “It is impossible to support any plan that ends with relocation or reoccupation.” At present, Qatar is focused on implementing the agreement, progressing through the second phase, and achieving sustainable peace in Gaza.
