QR Codes and Body Cameras: New Control Measures Introduced in Construction
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is strengthening its control system over construction processes to prevent illegal activities and ensure safety. As part of the new measures, inspectors will be equipped with body cameras, and every construction site will feature a QR code for tracking project information.
Recent data shows that last year, 1,600 construction projects began without registration, and since the start of this year, the number has reached 2,200. These issues have led to public dissatisfaction. Although regular inspections are required, only 1,150 sites were inspected once in the past eight months.
To address this, the Ministry of Construction and the Prosecutor's Office have been tasked with intensifying the fight against bureaucratic obstacles and corruption in the sector. Regional offices will establish operator-contractor teams to enhance oversight.
Inspectors will be equipped with body cameras, and construction projects funded by the state will have at least two video cameras installed. These devices will send live data to monitoring stations.
Furthermore, every construction site will now be required to display a QR code passport, allowing citizens to access detailed information about the project and monitor its legality.
