According to the head of Uzbekistan, some railway enterprises have low profitability, part of the carriage fleet is in need of repair and renewal, the necessary opportunities for private sector participation in the industry have not been created, and they are dissatisfied with corruption in the sale of tickets, conditions in carriages and service. All this points to the need to reform the industry.

At a meeting on reforming the railway industry, chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was noted that the pace of reforms in the railway industry lags behind the updates being carried out in all sectors of the economy, and it is time to make fundamental changes in this area too.

In particular, a new industry leader was appointed two months earlier. The system has been updated with about 30 old-fashioned, uninitiative leaders. Ineffective States were cut.

On the instructions of the President, 191 visits to railway stations were carried out, the real situation at them was analyzed, and more than 500 meetings were held with entrepreneurs. As a result of these activities, the main problems that need to be solved in the industry were identified and their solutions were identified.
