Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Samarkand

As previously reported, on April 22–23, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, paid an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. On April 22, Lavrov arrived in Samarkand, where he was welcomed by his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov.
During the visit, the two sides began discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.
On April 23, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the “Grieving Mother” monument in Samarkand. Sergey Lavrov took part in the event, paying tribute to the victims of World War II.
That same day, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also arrived in Samarkand. The head of state held a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The meeting focused on cooperation between the two countries in economic and social spheres.
