Saida Mirziyoyeva: Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Are Bound by a Special Friendship

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, said that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are bound by a special friendship rooted not only in interstate relations but also in the close ties between their peoples. She made the statement following the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan.
According to Mirziyoyeva, the two countries share a common history, culture and traditions that provide a strong foundation for bilateral relations. These ties are now gaining new substance through joint projects across a range of sectors, from infrastructure to investment.
“Our countries are bound by a special friendship. It is felt not only in relations between the states, but also in the warmth with which our peoples treat each other,” she wrote on social media.
Mirziyoyeva also highlighted the significance of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, signed on August 23. The document was signed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev following high-level talks.
She noted that the title of the treaty accurately reflects the nature of the relationship between the two countries and described the Azerbaijani president’s visit as another important chapter in bilateral ties.
“We are happy to welcome our Azerbaijani friends to Uzbekistan. Welcome to a country where you are always awaited,” Mirziyoyeva added.
