It is noted that the study involved 108 volunteers, they took blood tests and checked biomarkers indicating the risk of the disease. Then the participants were divided into two groups.

The first group performed simple breathing exercises daily. The second group did meditation exercises to keep mentally active and maintain memory integrity.

On the other hand, once a week all the participants had their blood analysed and checked the levels of amyloid-40 and 42, which are biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease.

After four weeks, the researchers came up with a surprising result. They found that the amount of beta-amyloid in the blood of participants in the first breathing exercise group was significantly reduced. This indicates that they have a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

The results of the second group were alarming: after 4 weeks of the experiment it became known that the level of beta-amyloid in their blood increased.

"Based on this, the Japanese scientists concluded that performing breathing exercises for 10-15 minutes a day is an effective way to prevent the development of Alzheimer's disease", - noted in the report.

Alzheimer's disease is more common in older people. It is manifested by a gradual loss of memory, impaired brain activity and reduced mental capacity.
