Southward Course: Russia Unveils Cooperation Potential with Africa
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov presented key initiatives at the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Forum. In his speech, he outlined a roadmap for deepening multifaceted partnership.

The head of Russian diplomacy stated Russia's intention to "unlock the huge potential" of cooperation with African states. As a practical measure, he suggested that countries on the continent without diplomatic missions in Moscow consider opening them to activate dialogue.

An important economic signal was the invitation to African partners to more actively explore niches in the Russian market. To develop trade, Moscow is ready to jointly "establish a mechanism for mutual settlements in national currencies" with Africans, which would be a response to Western sanction pressure.

Lavrov confirmed Russia's support for African countries in the field of security and the fight against terrorism. At the same time, he strongly criticized the policy of a number of states, calling their line on "dragging Africa into confrontational adventures" "unacceptable." This statement was interpreted by observers as a warning against involving the continent in the orbit of geopolitical confrontation with the West.
