Student crime: who is leading among Uzbek universities

An expanded meeting of the city prosecutor's office was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, dedicated to working with youth in universities and preventing crime among students. Within the framework of the meeting, official data on the criminogenic situation in the educational environment were announced.

According to the presented statistics, there are 92 universities operating in Tashkent, where more than 562 thousand students study. In 2024, 299 students committed crimes - this is 5.3% of the total number of registered offenses among the capital's youth. Since the beginning of 2025, 36 such cases have already been recorded.

The largest number of violations are related to road accidents and traffic accidents - 72 episodes (21.5%). Next are thefts (57 cases), drug-related crimes (46), and bodily harm (41 cases). The statistics also included facts of robbery, banditry, and hooliganism.

The main share of offenders are students of state universities (179 cases, 53%). In the "anti-rating," the following are leading:
Transport University - 27 crimes
Technical University - 21
National University - 20
University of Economics - 19
Law University - 12

Students of private universities committed 140 crimes (42%). The most problematic have become:
ISFT - 23 cases
Alfraganus - 21
Kimyo - 20

Also, 16 offenses (5%) were recorded among the branches of foreign universities.

Following the meeting, the prosecutor's office representatives instructed to strengthen educational work with young people, create an atmosphere of intolerance towards crime in universities, and develop legal culture and respect for national values among students.
