Success story of Ulugbekhon Maksumov

Ulugbekhon Maksumov is a name that is familiar to many and associated with armoured cars. But our hero did not achieve this in one day or a year. This is the fruit of many years of labour and perseverance. So where did the path of this businessman begin? Let's understand in this article.
Ulugbekhon was born and grew up in the town of Margilan in the south-east of the Fergana Valley. He studied at a gymnasium and graduated from Fergana State University in 2001 with a Master's degree in Philology. He then obtained a degree from the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

In one of the interviews, when asked why he did not take up activities in his field, Ulugbekhon replied: "As for my diploma - it is a necessary basis. And a person's further activity already depends on the person's interests".

In 2006, after arriving in the United Arab Emirates as a tourist, Ulugbekhon fell in love with the country and decided to start his career in the UAE. He began working as a logistician for a local company, where he quickly established himself and was promoted. According to him, the job was not a means of earning money, although it was not without it, but mostly a way of gaining experience and necessary information for further growth.

"In fact, we all know that the United Arab Emirates is a country that is a world leader in entrepreneurship. It is here that many people base their businesses, open enterprises and corporations. I can say that many Uzbek entrepreneurs also build their business in the UAE, but we are ready to present our projects and share our experience in Uzbekistan, we have enough abilities and skills to do so," Ulugbekhon said in an interview with Bright Uzbekistan international magazine.

Based on these considerations, as well as a keen interest in cars, Ulugbekhon had a business idea, which he shared with the right and correct, as it turned out, person. It is not for nothing that knowledgeable people say that you just need to find the right time and the right place. Ulugbekkhon had just such an opportunity and he did not miss it. Thus, in cooperation with this man, he started to implement a business project for the production of armoured vehicles.

It may be noted that Mr Maksumov's company has become one of the pioneers of this destination in Dubai. "Of course, there is a lot of competition in the UAE at the moment. But when we started operations in 2008, there was virtually no competition, and from about 2011 we can say that competition started to form," commented Mr Ulugbekhon.

Over many years of hard work, our hero managed to lay a solid foundation in the business sphere and supplied thousands of armoured vehicles to various countries. Ulugbekhon began to use the accumulated experience to develop Uzbekistan's military industry.

In 2021, the AKSUM VPK armoured vehicle production plant officially began operations in Uzbekistan and, a little later, the production of armoured boats under the AKSUM MARINE brand was launched next door. Both plants are located in the city of Chirchik and occupy a total area of 200,000 square metres.

The path travelled in this direction helped Ulugbekhon to raise AKSUM GROUP from scratch and make it one of the leading companies in the production of military industry on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It is worth noting that the head office of AKSUM GROUP with a similar production facility is located in the UAE. "I can proudly say that AKSUM is developing confidently, at a good pace. It fully copes with the tasks of providing the domestic market of Uzbekistan with timely deliveries of high quality armoured vehicles. As a result of joint efforts with colleagues from the United Arab Emirates, AKSUM is already stepping confidently in the global arena of the military industry," Maksumov said.
