At the Congress Center of the National Tourism Zone “Avaza,” President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The talks were held both one-on-one and with official delegations.
At the start of the meeting, warm greetings and best wishes from Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov were conveyed. President Mirziyoyev congratulated the Turkmen people on the successful hosting earlier this month of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza.
The discussions centered on strengthening good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership. It was noted that cooperation is advancing dynamically: since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has exceeded $700 million, a free trade regime is in effect, and trade houses are operating in Tashkent and Ashgabat.
Joint projects are being implemented in industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water management. This year, the launch of the “Shavat – Dashoguz” trade zone is planned.
The two leaders also stressed the importance of intergovernmental commission meetings, the Business Council, and cultural events. They exchanged views on the agenda of the upcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, highlighting the practical relevance of the current trilateral talks in the “Azerbaijan – Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan” format.
