Tashkent Hosts Space Cooperation Talks of OTS Countries
Tashkent is hosting a meeting of heads of authorized space agencies from the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The event is being held within the framework of the Space Technology Conference 2026, scheduled for March 31 to April 1.

Participants are discussing key areas of cooperation, including joint satellite projects, the use of Earth remote sensing data, and the application of space technologies in agriculture, environmental protection, and resource management. Expanding private sector involvement and training specialists are also high on the agenda.

A central focus is the joint satellite project — the scientific and educational CubeSat 12U (OTS-SAT), planned for launch in 2026. Uzbekistan is responsible for developing the propulsion system, while Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan are involved in assembly and implementation.

OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev noted that since the initial decision taken at the 2021 meeting in Baku, the project has made steady progress, evolving from a concept into a tangible advanced initiative.

A model of the satellite presented at the meeting was brought by the Kazakh side.
