Tesla has built its first Cybertruck at its electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas, the company tweeted Saturday, after 2 years of delays.

Tesla founder unveiled the pickup truck in 2019 at a presentation where the vehicle's designer broke the supposedly unbreakable "armor glass" windows.

Since then, the company has repeatedly pushed back production dates, and last year Musk cited a shortage of parts as the reason for postponing the Cybertruck's launch until 2023.

At a shareholder meeting in May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company plans to produce a quarter of a million Cybertrucks a year, depending on demand.

The launch of the Cybertruck will allow Tesla to enter one of the most profitable segments of the U.S. market and compete with electric pickup trucks from companies such as Ford Motor and Rivian Automotive, which have released a limited number of models so far.

It should be noted that the Cybertruck from Tesla in the U.S. will cost from $40 thousand for a single-engine model, and for a fast three-engine version will have to pay from $70 thousand.
