Today, June 24, Uzbekistan Airways has commenced its first regular flight from the International Airport in Karshi to St. Petersburg and back, the press service of the national carrier reports.

Travelers can also take advantage of regular flights from other key cities in Uzbekistan.

"Now it is possible to travel to the city of white nights from 8 cities of Uzbekistan: Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Fergana, Namangan, Termez and Karshi," the statement reads.

Earlier reports indicated that flights on the Samarkand - Irkutsk - Samarkand route would operate weekly on Sundays starting from June 16.

Karshi is the largest city and the administrative centre of the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. The town has become known today for the Shurtan natural gas field and the Khanabad military airfield, which was used in the NATO military operation in Afghanistan.
