Uzbekistan will host another major international event. On April 4–5, the first Samarkand International Climate Forum will take place at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center.

The First Samarkand International Climate Forum
This forum is of great significance not only for Uzbekistan but for the entire Central Asian region. World leaders, politicians, experts, and environmental activists will gather to discuss regional and global climate challenges.

The forum is organized under the theme “Central Asia Facing Global Climate Challenges: Uniting for Common Prosperity”. Its goal is to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of environmental sustainability, green economy, and climate resilience.

The discussions will focus on the following key areas:

Development of renewable energy sources;

Integrated water resource management;

Conservation of biodiversity;

Sustainable urban development;

Socio-economic consequences of climate change.

A special focus will be on the Aral Sea crisis, a striking example of a global environmental disaster. Experts and government representatives will discuss solutions for restoring affected areas, combating desertification, and mitigating the socio-economic impact of climate change on local communities.

The forum will be attended by the leaders of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Additionally, representatives from the European Union, the United Nations, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations will play a crucial role in the discussions.

The forum is expected to conclude with the adoption of the Regional Green Development Concept, which will serve as a foundation for a unified regional approach to climate change in Central Asia. It will also incorporate strategies from international organizations for addressing the region’s environmental challenges.
