The founding states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea signed 4 important documents

Today in Tajikistan a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State-founders of the fund was held. The leaders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and a member of the government of Kyrgyzstan spoke at it, and an appeal from the UN Secretary General was read out.
On September 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahman, took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
The event, chaired by the Tajik side, was attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adilbek Kasimaliev and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General - Head of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Kakha Imnadze.
The leaders of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and a member of the government of Kyrgyzstan also spoke at the meeting, and an address from the Secretary General of the United Nations was read out.
Following the event, the founding states of the fund signed the following documents:
• Dushanbe Statement by the Leaders of the Founding Countries of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea;
• Decision of the Council of Heads of State-founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea on the results of the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CSTO;
• Decision of the Council of Heads of State-founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was elected president of the OIC for 2024-2026;
• Decision of the Council of Heads of Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea on activities to improve the organizational structure and legal framework of protected areas.
In 2024-2026 Chairmanship of the OIC passed to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
