On March 19, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The leaders exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming Ramadan and Navruz holidays, sincerely wishing the fraternal peoples of the two countries peace, well-being, and prosperity.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the further expansion of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
The steady growth in trade turnover and the advancement of joint cooperation projects in trade, economic, investment, transport, cultural, humanitarian, and other priority areas were noted with satisfaction.
The parties also discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East, the further escalation of which could lead to unpredictable consequences for the vast region and a global economic recession. The need for a rapid reduction in tensions through exclusively political and diplomatic means was emphasized.
The schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events was also reviewed.
