Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has registered and granted legal protection to a new garlic variety called "Termiz 2020." This variety was developed by the Surkhandarya Scientific Experimental Station of the Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon, and Potato Cultivation.
The new variety was created using the individual selection method from the K-81 breeding clone. One of its main advantages is its long shelf life, distinguishing it from other garlic varieties.
Garlic has been known for its medicinal properties since ancient times. Even Avicenna mentioned its benefits in his work The Canon of Medicine.
A patent for this breeding achievement has been issued for 30 years. For grape, timber, ornamental, fruit, and forest tree varieties, as well as their rootstocks, this period can be extended to 35 years.
Applications for the registration of breeding achievements can be submitted via the official website of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan at im.adliya.uz .
