President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the US House of Representatives, consisting of Congressmen Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronnie Jackson, and Edward Case.
At the beginning of the meeting, the American legislators offered sincere congratulations to the President and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence.
The parties discussed the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as the development of interparliamentary cooperation.
The positive dynamics of bilateral relations, the high level of political dialogue, and the intensification of contacts and mutual visits were noted with satisfaction. During a recent telephone conversation, the leaders of the two countries identified priority areas for further expansion of their strategic partnership.
Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, mutual trade has increased by 20 percent. The three-year Economic Cooperation Program is being consistently implemented, providing for the launch and implementation of major projects in energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technology, and industry.
The important role of the US Congress in supporting the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and in promoting constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries was noted.
Special attention was paid to expanding interregional cooperation. A commitment was expressed to further develop direct ties and implement joint projects with the states of Missouri, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii, represented by members of the US delegation.
An exchange of views on current regional and international issues also took place.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize reciprocal visits by business missions.
