The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan held a meeting of the Interstate Council

On July 2, the meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in a narrow format, as well as the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, took place at the Zagulba residence in Baku.

The main topics were the strengthening of allied and strategic partnership relations, the expansion of cooperation in industry, transport, energy, and culture.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the visit is taking place in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries:

"Never in history have our relations been at such a high level as today," the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

The leaders announced a 25% increase in trade turnover, an increase in joint projects to $4 billion, and the presence of 300 operating enterprises. New formats of interaction - the Business Council, the Forum of Industrial Zones, as well as the expansion of the joint investment company - were approved.

The parties agreed to accelerate the project for the export of electricity to Europe and to use the Middle Corridor more actively - cargo transportation through it has already increased by 25%.

The construction of the "Uzbekistan" park in Baku and the opening of the embassy's new building were also announced. Following the meeting, a "roadmap" for the implementation of the agreements reached was approved.
