The net profit of the banking sector for the five months of 2023 amounted to 4.8 trillion sums. Loans to individuals from the beginning of the year to May increased by 55%, compared to the same period in 2022.

The profit of Uzbekistan's banks in the five months of 2023 reached 4.8 trillion sums, which is 40.5% more than in January-May 2022, according to data from the Central Bank.

Over the same period, the total assets of banks increased by 15.9% and amounted to 572.3 trillion sums. The deposit portfolio of banks increased by 17.7% to 204.8 trillion sums. At the same time, the loan portfolio grew by 21.8%, to 420.5 trillion sums.

The share of problem loans (NPL) from the total volume of loans issued decreased from 5.3% to 3.5%. The most overdue loans are observed in Uzagroexportbank — 90.4% of the total loan portfolio, Ravnaq Bank — 76.9%, Madad Invest Bank - 16% and People's Bank - 10%.

Also, according to the regulator, lending to individuals in Uzbekistan for five months of 2023 increased by 55% compared to the same period last year. The volume of retail loans issued increased from 77.6 trillion to 120.1 trillion sums.
