"There are a lot of calls. Most likely, these are not so much complaints about persecution, but rather the fear of our citizens, panic, many want to leave. We are currently monitoring the situation, more people are coming [to Tajikistan] than leaving," she said.

However, the ministry is confident that this is a temporary phenomenon and urges people not to succumb to provocative messages on the internet aimed at stirring up interethnic strife.

The Deputy Minister added that "at the household level", there are also cases of persecution of Tajikistan citizens, and threats have been received by the Tajikistan Ministry of Labour's representation in Russia after the terrorist attack.

It is important to note that the majority of labour migrants from Tajikistan choose Russia as a destination for work. According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Labour data, in 2023, more than 627,000 people out of 652,000 labour migrants headed to Russia.
