During his visit to Bostanlyk, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the "Ugam-1" hydroelectric power plant.

The "Ugam-1" HPP Generates Annual Revenue of 200 Billion Soums
Two small hydroelectric power plants have been built on the Ugam River, each generating an annual income of 200 billion soums. This project provides uninterrupted electricity to 5,000 households as well as tourism and recreational facilities in the region. Additionally, about 4 million cubic meters of gas are saved annually.

This initiative not only addresses energy issues but also improves the region's infrastructure. New enterprises in entrepreneurship and agriculture are emerging. The President was also briefed on projects planned for other regions.

Tashkent region currently operates 25 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 1,330 megawatts, accounting for 60% of the country's hydroelectric capacity. At present, four additional hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 340 megawatts and a value of $880 million are under construction.

Moreover, by 2028, the region plans to implement 23 projects with a total capacity of approximately 2,400 megawatts and an investment of $4.8 billion. Among these is the "Ugam-1" small HPP, which has been constructed with a capacity of 1.48 megawatts, enabling the production of 11.8 million kilowatt-hours of environmentally friendly electricity per year.

The plant is equipped with modern, efficient hydroelectric units and an automated control system. Notably, all construction materials were sourced domestically, making it a true national brand.

By attracting foreign investment and private sector participation, the plan is to increase total hydroelectric capacity to 6,000 megawatts by 2023. Legal and economic conditions have been established to support this, including the potential for building up to 2,000 micro and small hydroelectric power plants across the country.
