The United Kingdom Announces a Four-Point Plan to Support Ukraine
World
On March 2, at the European Leaders’ Summit held in London, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a four-point plan to support Ukraine. During the summit, European leaders made significant decisions regarding the end of the war and the protection of Ukraine.
The Four-Point Plan:
Continuing military assistance to Ukraine.
Increasing economic pressure on Russia.
Any peace agreement must ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty and security. Ukraine must participate in any peace negotiations.
If a peace agreement is signed, measures must be taken to strengthen Ukraine and prevent future military aggression from Moscow.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that European countries are not only providing military and economic aid to Ukraine but are also planning to establish an international coalition to ensure global peace guarantees after the war.
The summit was attended by leaders of Europe’s largest countries, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schuf, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
Additionally, the summit hosted Romanian interim President Ilie Bolojian, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and European Council President António Costa.
The only non-European guest at the summit was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The outcomes of the summit signal even closer cooperation between Ukraine and Europe on collective security issues. European leaders have agreed to act together to prevent Russian aggression and ensure that Ukraine receives the necessary support.
