The US has declared a record level of Islamophobia
The US-Islamic Relations Board (CAIR) published a report for 2024, which recorded 8,658 cases of Islamophobia - a record figure for all observation history.

According to the data, the largest number of complaints (15.4%) are related to discrimination in employment, and another 14.8% concern immigration and asylum problems. Approximately 10% of applications came from students who faced pressure due to their Muslim or Palestinian origins, and 7.5% of cases are classified as hate crimes.

CAIR notes that the rise in Islamophobia in the US coincided with the escalation of the Middle East conflict and Israel's military operation in Gaza. Student protests took place in universities across the country, often accompanied by arrests and police use of force.

Among the most shocking incidents of 2024:

  • attempted drowning of a three-year-old girl of Palestinian origin in Texas;

  • attack with a knife on an American of Palestinian origin;

  • beatings of a Muslim in New York.

CAIR also reports cases of university professors and students being threatened or forced to leave their positions due to their participation in protests. The organization stated that what is happening is an encroachment on freedom of speech and human rights.
