Today is expected to be a historic day in Abkhazia
On November 19, the Abkhazian parliament is expected to officially consider the president's resignation.

During the negotiations, it was decided that Vice President Badra Gunba will temporarily assume the duties of the president. Additionally, early presidential elections are planned to be held in the republic.

This decision was prompted by widespread protests in the country. Before agreeing to step down, Aslan Bzhania demanded that protesters vacate the seized government buildings. However, the opposition and protesters rejected this demand, insisting solely on the president's resignation. The confrontation culminated in the occupation of the parliament building and other government facilities.

Parliament Speaker Lasha Ashuba stated that the decision to hold new elections is the outcome of negotiations. According to media reports, this process stems from public dissatisfaction with economic challenges and political disputes, including issues in relations with Russia.
