A tragic accident occurred at the "Zhomart" mine in Kazakhstan, where seven miners were trapped under the rubble. Rescuers worked through the night, but by morning, it became clear: there were no survivors. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev demanded an immediate investigation, and authorities promised support to the families of the deceased.

The incident happened at the "Zhomart" ore mine operated by Kazakhmys Corporation in the Ulytau region. The collapse of rock formations claimed the lives of seven miners, burying them under tons of debris.

Rescue teams, canine units, and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene immediately after the collapse. However, damage to communication cables made it impossible to contact the workers. After several hours of searching, the bodies of all seven miners were recovered and brought to the surface.

"The bodies have been handed over to the police for forensic examination," the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Preliminary data suggests a natural gas explosion, which is uncommon for Kazakhmys mines. A state commission has been established, and a criminal case has been opened for violating safety regulations during mining operations.

President Tokayev expressed condolences to the families of the victims and instructed the government to conduct a thorough investigation and provide financial and psychological support to the families.

Kazakhmys Corporation announced a compensation package for the families of the deceased miners:

10 times the miner’s annual salary;

Over 2 million tenge for funeral expenses;

Monthly payments for loss of a breadwinner;

Payment of children’s education costs;

Repayment of the miners' loans and debts.

The investigation is ongoing, and Kazakhstan mourns the loss of its miners.
